Jesus Love Me! This I know
For the Bible tells me so;
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (Eph. 2:4)
Man, dead in trespasses and sin. God, rich in mercy and great with love. His eyes of compassion see man—fallen, hopeless, indifferent to the things of God. Man, no more than a dead soul, a confused corpse, doomed and desperate. Conformed to the world, slave to Satan, prone to sin, child of wrath. But God. Abundant in mercy. But God. Great with love. A love that penetrates the depths of man’s soul to pardon, to cleanse, to relieve. Mankind, rescued from the wrath of God, cleansed by the Blood of His Son, made alive with Christ, seated in heavenly places, children in His household.
The love of God is beyond our comprehension. It reaches to the highest heavens, to the lowest depths of the sea. His love encircles all the earth. There is nowhere we can escape Him. In darkness and in light, He is there nurturing us, caring for us, faithful to us. His love—perfect, complete, pure. He is the Most Excellent Father. His kindness beyond measure, affection beyond comprehension, devotion beyond understanding. His love, revealed in His works and His ways, recorded in His Law, manifested in His Son. We are the beneficiary of His amazing love, the recipient of His interest in our well-being. God is love; all love comes from Him. God is devoted to us, His creation. He is affectionate toward us, His tender care and self-sacrifice obvious to those who wish to know. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jn. 3:16). Love is God’s nature, and He imparts this nature to His children: “He who abides in love abides in God, and God in him” (I Jn. 4:16). What a glorious hope we have because of His love, His faithfulness, His grace. We are partakers of that eternal fountain, overflowing with His mercies, filling us with His love.
Before you knew the Lord, you were caught up in trespasses and sins, walking according to this world and the prince of the power of the air, a child of wrath. But God, rich in mercy and great with love, reached down from heaven, awakened your spirit and poured His love into you. What amazing love the Father has. Do you know His love? Do you know Him to be tenderhearted toward you? How has He shown His devotion to you? Do you love Him? How will you show Him your adoration for Him today? As you go about your day today, remember this truth: “Jesus Love Me! This I know, For the Bible tells me so.”
