With a special mercy for each hour;
Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation! Selah (Ps. 68:19)
The Lord, Maker of heaven and earth, separated light from darkness, heaven from earth, earth from sea, oh blessed is He. He had laid the foundation, it was time to execute His next activity—creating life—fish in the water, birds in the sky, plants and animals on earth. It was good. The stage perfectly set, He made man—the crown of His creation. It was very good. God had made a way for man when there was no way. For how could man survive without daylight to work, without nighttime to rest, without earth to traverse, seas to explore, heavens to inspire, or food to eat? Man was special. God made man in His own image. Man was loved. God wanted His love to be reflected in man through relationships. All of creation was ruled by instinct, governed by the laws of nature that God had set in place. Unlike everything else in creation, man, the crowning jewel of God’s Creation, was given choice. . . and a rule—do not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God gave man one rule, one choice—obey or disobey. Man chose to disobey, to break up with the Lord. Again, God made a way when there was no way. He sent His Son, Jesus that man could have fellowship with Him by choice.
God maintains the waters, the earth, and the living creatures—all of creation. He sustains life. He made man in His image, a reflection of the Trinity—a fellowship of three persons. Man—spirit, soul, and body—made for relationship with God, nature, and mankind; to work, to play, to love. The one who chooses to remain separated from God is still able to enjoy a relationship with nature and people. How futile, how lonely, how dreadful would life be if God denied earthly relationships with those who choose to reject a relationship with Him. Once again, God has made a way when there was no way.
The Lord is with you, even now. Are you with Him? When you chose to yield your life to God, He began imparting a love unthinkable, a hope unimaginable, a faith unshakeable. He is upholding you with His grace—the crown of His creation. By God’s mercy and love, He made a way for you, when there was no way. Let this be your hope for today and the prayer of your heart as you think about these simple words, “Every day, the Lord Himself is near me with a special mercy for each hour.”
