1126 God Will Take Care of You

“Fear not.” Whatever the source of fear: flesh, people, thoughts—real or imagined—God’s children are exhorted to “fear not.” Fear, anxiety, and stress, when met with faith, have little power in the believer’s life. What comfort, what security, what hope believers have when they trust their God to care for them. The Alpha and the Omega and Prince of Peace. God promises, “I will strengthen you”, “I will help you”, “I will uphold you”. God’s trinity of divine forces, His triple wall of divine protection, His almighty hand of assurance. “I am weak but He is strong”, “O God our help in ages past”, “My Shepherd will supply my need.” Promises supported by God’s omnipotence and carried out by His faithfulness.

God wants to deliver us with His righteous right hand. Yet, we concede to the fears that chase us: A worrisome report from the doctor, a financial setback, a broken relationship. We become overwhelmed, believing that the burden is too heavy for us to carry. It is. Jesus wants us to cast our fears and worries on Him (I Pe. 5:7). When we are tired and overloaded, we often offer an obligatory prayer toward heaven, then go about considering the earthly resources we have available—the people we know, the possessions we own, the emotions in our heart. There is no relief. When we look to the Author and Finisher of our faith, when we place our cares in His loving arms, in His trinity of divine forces, fear decreases, faith increases, and God releases. He dispatches His triple wall of protection for us. Fear is overtaken by faith, our weakness replaced with His strength. We have changed. We are no longer the person we were when the crisis emerged. We may have wished for a different outcome, we may not understand why things turned out as they did, but we can possess the “peace that passes all understanding” (Phil. 4:7), knowing that God works in us and through us what He wants for us. He has eternal glory in mind; we have earthly pleasures in mind.

Are you in need? He is Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord your provider. Are you sick? He is Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord your healer. Are you worried? He is Jehovah-Shalom, the Lord of peace. Won’t you place that heavy load you are carrying at the foot of the cross right now? When you do, you set in motion God’s trinity of divine forces to strengthen, to help, to uphold you. Rest, knowing that “When dangers fierce your path assail, God will take care of you.”
