Once upon a time my blankie was new. I didn’t think much about it. It was just there. When someone held me, they held my blankie. When I fell asleep, I had my blankie. It didn’t take long for me to realize this. And, before I knew it, I had grown quite fond of my blankie. One day they tried to give me another blankie. I did not like that! For you see, my blankie is special to me and nothing can take its place. As I grew a little older, they used it to wip up spills; they even used it for a burp rage. This only made my blankie smell more like me.
I can do a lot of things with my blankie. I can use it to throw inthe air . . . wrap around my head like a turban . . . use it as a cape like superman . . . hug and hold it real close.
When I was in my mommy’s tummy, before they gave me my blankie, I discovered my finger. Now a finger can be used for many things–pointing, picking thins up, picking my nose, eating, writing and tickling. But the best use for a finger is sucking. Most grownups don’t unerstand this. They say that I’m smart. I agree because I discovered early in life the joy of sucking my finger. There is something wonderful about putting my finger in my mouth and holding my blankie. And, because they understand that I need to have my blankie all the time, I can have both my blankie and my finger at the same time . . . anytime. Can life get any better than this?
Of all the uses for my blankie, the one I like best is to hold it with one hand and suck my finger with the other.
In fact, my very favorite place to be is in a big person’s arms with my blankie sucking my finger. There is nothing more pleasant than that.
Most of all I like my Daddy to hold my blankie and me. I love my Daddy because he is so good to me, and he usually does what I tell him to do.
