Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, (I Pe. 1:3-4)
God is holy. Man is sinful. There is a great chasm between a holy God and sinful man. Because God is overflowing with compassionate love and kindness, He made the ultimate sacrifice by giving up His only Son for man so that man might have a way to cross over to Him. If one is to traverse that chasm, he must confess faith in Jesus, believing that He died, was buried, and rose from the dead. When he does, a relationship between God and man is born and God adopts him into His family as one of His children. The new believer becomes a partaker of an incorruptible and unpolluted inheritance.
Our relationship with the Lord is unlike any other. Jesus is holy, perfect, and pure, sent from heaven above. We are earthly, immoral, and unclean, born into a world of fleshly lusts and desires. Just as in any relationship, it takes time to know and understand the other person. Jesus is not only our Savior and friend, but also the One who has wonderfully and fearfully made us. He is intimately acquainted with all our ways, good and bad. Even so, He loves us with a love far greater than any we could ever imagine. He gives us the Holy Spirit, eternal life, and a reason for living. We give Him praise and adoration, our fleshly lusts, and our life. Ever-so-slowly, He is transforming our lives as we become more like Jesus—holy, perfect, and pure.
Is this your daily testimony? Do you know and appreciate that God has done great things? He is the creator of all things, in heaven and earth. He created the world with His infinite wisdom. His works are, indeed, too wonderful to know. The greatest work of all is that He has provided a way for you to enter an eternal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. Today is a good day to thank Him for His wonderful plan of salvation. Who might you be able to tell, in word or in action, about the great things He has done in your life? For some people, you will be the closest they will ever come to seeing Jesus. Are you a good ambassador for Him? You could be. Submit to God and resist the devil. What do you foresee happening today that you could do just this? To God be the glory, great things He has done!
